Increase your comfort and confidence underwater in your kayak — with options for non-rollers and rollers! We’ll work through a number of exercises designed to help you get used to being upside down in your kayak, increase the time you’re comfortable being submerged, and improve your ability to orient yourself and complete actions in your kayak underwater.

Prerequisites
To attend a regular (non rollers) session, you must have received previous training in how to complete a controlled wet exit from your kayak, and/or completed at least 5 wet exits from your kayak, with a spray skirt on. We will review the controlled wet exit procedure, but we do not have time to teach it during this clinic.
To attend a Rollers session, you must have a confident roll on at least one side.
Required Equipment
- Your own sea kayak with full spray skirt, paddle and Transport-Canada required safety gear.
- Weather-appropriate wetsuit OR drysuit with appropriate layers underneath. We will be in the water/wet for the duration of the clinic!
- Extra set of warm dry clothes in a drybag in case of leaks.
- Optional but recommended: swim goggles or dive mask, nose clips, earplugs, neoprene cap/surf hood, gloves. We have extra goggles and nose clips for you to use.
