Our Learning Expeditions allow you to strengthen your trip planning and paddling skills in a coached setting, within the context of a multi-day trip with peers. Participants will plan and carry out the expedition as a team, with individual leadership legs interspersed throughout. For 2026, our Gabriola Island and Maurelle Island Expeditions involve kayak tripping in areas with current. Our Quadra Island Expedition focusses on chart-based navigation from a car-accessible base camp.
Gabriola Island
Circumnavigation
A two-day trip around Gabriola Island, in the Southern Gulf Islands. We’ll transit primary and secondary current stations and navigate stunning sandstone shorelines.

Maurelle Island
Circumnavigation
A three-day trip around Maurelle Island, in the Discovery Islands. We’ll transit two major current stations and explore the Octopus and Rendezvous Islands.

Quadra Island
Chart-Based Navigation Intensive
A three-day deep dive into navigation with a marine chart, including visual navigation, compass navigation and trip/route planning. Takes place on Quadra Island. Car campsite included in course fees.
